A “MOMMY AFFAIR” Hits Holliston

HOLLISTON, MA -- Dozens of not-so-desperate Holliston housewives are turning out for a fall fair – with a twist. On November 12 from 9am to 1pm, local “mom-preneurs” will showcase their products – and everything is for sale including the house!! The fair is actually the backdrop for a real estate “open house.”

Creative open houses are the hot new thing in a Northeast real estate market that’s cooling down. In past years, the traditional Sunday afternoon 2-4pm “open house” might have generated a bidding war – but not anymore. Now it’s hard to get people to even show up. So, realtors are being forced to come up with imaginative ways to get potential buyers to view a property.  How imaginative? Try catered meals and live entertainment.

This event is the brainchild of Brick House Realty.com owner Maria Salomão-Schmidt, “It’s really hard to get people to come to open houses these days, the old “coffee and cookies” just isn’t working anymore.” 

In this case, the house is a 5-bedroom, 3-bathroom garrison-style home in a quiet neighborhood of Holliston – perfect for a growing family.  The client is a single mother, so Salomão- Schmidt hit on the idea of gathering a group of entrepreneurial women to show off their talents and help sell a house at the same time. The event is already generating plenty of buzz in this small New England town.
