Sylvia started investing in real estate back in college. She studied accounting and management at BabsonCollege and used her skills to buy and sell several properties. But Sylvia wasn’t content to use her expertise just to enrich herself, she wanted to help others realize their American Dream. Sylvia joined the Asian Community Development Corporation and helped dozens of families buy their first homes. She specialized in helping her clients sort through the maze of affordable home buying programs to find one that worked for them.
Sylvia also used her knowledge of the market to develop a seminar for home buyers that graduated 500 people in three short years. She moved on to manage an 85-million dollar housing development before finally settling back into her first love helping people buy and sell homes.

Doug Schmidt is a Long Island boy through and through. Yes, he is a loyal life-long Yankees and (no matter how much they lose) Jets fan! He worked in the apparel industry for close to 20 years after attending Wagner College. He worked for Reebok and traveled around the World to places such as China, Hong Kong, Sri Lanka, Mexico, and India.
Besides real estate, he and his wife, Brick House Realty's founder, Maria Salomão-Schmidt, Doug owns a successful chain of dry cleaning stores in Massachusetts that he started in 1999. He believes he is the luckiest man in the world because he married "the woman of my dreams" and loves working with her getting people the home of their dreams!
Doug is a beloved father of five children who keep him on his toes. In 2006, his youngest daughter at the time Sophia, who had Down syndrome died suddenly. In her memory, Doug and Maria support many wonderful organizations that help people living with special needs. He believes they have much to teach all of us! Inspired by Sophia's death, he and Maria went down to New Orleans with Sherborn's Unitarian Church to help rebuild after Katrina hit and our government abandoned the people there. They are planning to go back because there is still a lot of work there that needs to be done.
For many years he has coached local youth teams in soccer, baseball, lacrosse and football. Last year, his football team, the Panthers were Super Bowl champs.
Doug and real estate are a great mix! He loves negotiating the best deal for his clients, even if they are Red Sox fans!

Ben first heard about Brick House Realty when its founder, Maria Salomão-Schmidt, sold him a multi-family home as an investment at the ripe old age of twenty-four! It worked out so well for him that he wants to work with others to help them realize their dreams too!
Besides selling real estate Ben is also a manager at Trader Joe’s where he’s worked for five years. Before that he worked at other retailers. He is a graduate of the Isenberg School of Management at UMass Amherst.
Ben has a passion for Jeep Wranglers because they help him do all the outdoor activities he loves, especially skiing, snowboarding and hiking. He currently lives in Berlin with his beloved, rescued dog, Sargent.
